Who We Are
Welcome to How-To-Fix-A. My name is Mike, and I am a 45-year-old certified technician and lifelong DIY enthusiast based out of Austin, Texas. With over 20 years of hands-on experience in electronics repair, home maintenance, and general plumbing, I started this website to share my knowledge with the world.
The repair industry is often filled with overpriced quotes and unnecessary replacements. I believe that anyone can learn to fix everyday items. From a leaky outdoor faucet and a stubborn jeans zipper to complex logic board issues on a MacBook or iPhone, my goal is to break down these repairs into highly detailed, actionable, and safe step-by-step guides.
Our Mission
- Empowerment: We want to give you the confidence to pick up a screwdriver or pliers and fix things yourself.
- Sustainability: Repairing items keeps them out of landfills. Electronic waste and textile waste are massive global issues, and every fixed backpack or repaired Chromebook helps.
- Transparency: We tell you the exact tools you need, how much they cost, and whether a repair is actually worth your time. No fluff, just honest diagnostic tables and hard facts.
My Background & Expertise
Before launching How-To-Fix-A, I worked as a licensed contractor and later transitioned to a senior repair technician at an authorized electronics service center. Over the years, I have seen exactly how manufacturers build modern devices and appliancesand more importantly, how they fail. I hold certifications in advanced logic board micro-soldering, residential plumbing, and safety standards.
When I am not writing repair guides or dismantling broken appliances, you can find me restoring classic cars in my garage or spending time with my family here in Texas.
